| The
Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of
Germany (BMZ) is responsible for the planning and implementation
of the government's development policy. Its tasks focus on:
helping to shape global frameworks; developing bilateral and
multilateral promotion strategies, and supporting the development
programmes and projects of partner countries; promoting the
development work of non-governmental organisations; and monitoring
and evaluating fund utilisation.
BMZ has a staff of just under 600 including part-timers.
About 80% is employed at the Ministry's headquarters in Bonn,
and the remaining 20% at its office in Berlin.
